A Puppy Spotted the Lowest Ornament on the Tree and Made His Move
The lowest branch of the tree has lost one of its ornaments, and the culprit is sitting right there. A black and tan German Shepherd puppy holds a shiny red ball in its mouth, with one ear up and one folded, and a sideways glance that seems to ask what all the fuss is about. Pine needles frame the left of the shot, and behind the puppy a living room with a couch, a knit throw, and a bright window spreads out.
German Shepherds are clever, loyal, and often very eager to work, which means a puppy of this breed needs lots of attention and activity. They love having a job, and a bored shepherd pup may make up its own, such as emptying a tree of ornaments. Glass ornaments are a danger, since broken pieces can cut mouths and paws, and swallowing small decorations can cause blockages. Hang fragile ornaments high, use shatterproof ones at low levels, and give the puppy a good chew toy to trade for the shiny one. Call your vet if anything gets swallowed.
This quick little thief, whom we will name Scout, looks proud. He has chosen the prettiest ornament and made a clean getaway. We suspect the ornament will soon be swapped for a toy, and Scout will happily move on to the next adventure.
