The Sled Was Ready, the Snow Was Fresh, and Penny Had Her Nose Up
Sitting tall on an old wooden sled with a rope trailing from the front, a tricolor Beagle puppy looks off to the side with long, soft ears hanging beside its face. Its coat is a mix of brown, black, and white, and its brown eyes seem to be focused on something in the distance. The ground is covered in a thin layer of snow with a few footprints, and behind the pup stands a pale house with a wreath on the door.
Beagles are friendly, curious, and driven by their noses. They were bred to follow scents, so a puppy may suddenly take off after an interesting smell, and it is wise to keep one on a leash or in a fenced area outside. Beagles are also social and love company, so they do best with attention and exercise. In snow, short coats do not hold in much warmth, so keep outings brief, dry paws afterward, and watch for signs that a puppy is cold, such as shivering or lifting its paws.
We will call this brave rider Penny, and she seems to be waiting for someone to pull the rope. The sled is old, the snow is fresh, and the look on her face is full of hope. Whatever scent has caught her attention, she is clearly ready for the next adventure down the hill.
