The Family Tore Into Their Presents, and Mocha Watched Every Moment
In front of a living room full of wrapping paper, a black Pug puppy sits calmly on a blanket and looks off to the side with wide dark eyes. Behind it, a woman in a green plaid shirt and a man in a denim jacket tear into gifts beside a small boy, and the tree sparkles in the background. A toy truck, a plush reindeer, and a golden star-shaped ornament lie among the torn paper and boxes.
Pugs are small, sturdy dogs that love being around their people, and a busy holiday morning is often their idea of a perfect day. Even so, a lot of noise and activity can overwhelm a young pup, so it helps to give it a quiet bed or a break in another room. Pugs also have short noses, so they can overheat and tire easily, and they should not exercise too hard in warm rooms. Keep wrapping paper, tape, and toy parts picked up, because curious puppies can swallow them.
This little observer, whom we might name Mocha, seems to be enjoying every minute from the sidelines. She is not pouncing or barking, just soaking up the happiness of the family. Some puppies join the commotion and some prefer to watch, and she has chosen the best seat for the show. A warm room, a happy family, and a good view are plenty.
