The Leaves Were Raked Into a Neat Pile on the Porch. The Black Lab Puppy Noticed.
Autumn has fully arrived on this front porch, and a little black puppy is making the most of it. A fluffy black Labrador Retriever pup sprawls in a crunchy pile of orange and copper maple leaves, paws stretched forward and pink tongue peeking out in a happy, mid-play grin. A few leaves cling to its soft fur and floppy ears. Around it, plump orange pumpkins line the steps, a pot of golden mums sits on a stool, and a wooden rocking chair holds a blue plaid blanket. A watering can, a houseplant, and a pair of sneakers complete the cozy fall scene.
Labrador puppies are famously playful, curious, and eager to explore everything with their mouths. During the fall, that curiosity calls for a little extra attention. Leaf piles can hide sticks, mushrooms, acorns, and other things puppies should not chew or swallow, and some wild mushrooms can be very dangerous. Halloween pumpkins are fine to look at, but carved or rotting pumpkins can grow mold, so they are best kept out of reach. Supervised outdoor play, a quick check of the yard, and plenty of safe chew toys help keep a Lab puppy's first autumn fun and safe.
There is nothing quite like a puppy discovering leaves for the first time. Every gust of wind is a new adventure, and every crunch underfoot is the best sound in the world. Happy first Halloween, little one.
