The Lights Came Out of the Box, and Aurora Became Part of the Display
Stretched out on a gray knit blanket with a string of glowing lights looped around it, a fluffy blue point Ragdoll cat gazes toward the camera with pale blue eyes. The warm bulbs trace a path across its cream and gray coat, and its big plumed tail curls around behind. Its paws are tucked in softly, and its expression is calm and unbothered, as if being wrapped in lights were a perfectly ordinary afternoon.
Ragdolls are famously relaxed cats, which makes them likely to stay put even when something unusual lands on them. That calm nature is lovely, but it is a reminder to be careful with cords. Strings of lights can be chewed, tangled, or heated, so unplug them when a cat is nearby and never leave a cat unsupervised in a nest of wires. If a cat gets tangled, stay calm and unwind gently, one loop at a time. Long-haired cats need extra care because wires can catch in fur, and regular brushing keeps the coat from knots.
Our glowing model, whom we might name Aurora, does not seem to mind at all. She looks like the star of her own light show, with golden sparkles all around. Soon the lights will go back on the tree where they belong, but for this moment she is the prettiest decoration in the house.
