A Fluffy Tabby Kitten Met the Cornucopia and Had Questions
The horn of plenty is overflowing, and one small guest is trying to figure out what all of it is. A fluffy brown tabby kitten with tufted ears and a striped, shaggy coat sits on the rustic dining table, gazing at a woven wicker cornucopia spilling over with harvest treasures. Out of its mouth tumble orange and green pumpkins, red grapes, shiny apples, pinecones, wheat stalks, and sprigs of eucalyptus. In front of the kitten, a glass of water, a knit placemat, a fork, and a spoon wait for dinner, while the kitchen behind glows with soft daylight.
That kitten's long, thick fur and tufted ears hint at a Norwegian Forest Cat, a breed built for cold Scandinavian winters with a water-resistant double coat. Even as kittens, they're usually curious and friendly. Centerpieces like this, though, deserve a careful look when pets are around. Grapes are well known to be dangerous for dogs and are best kept away from cats too. Pinecones and dried wheat can be choking hazards, and some decorative greenery can upset a cat's stomach. Placing tempting displays where kittens can't reach them, or choosing pet-safe decorations, keeps the holiday table beautiful and worry-free.
For now, this fluffy tabby seems content to admire rather than nibble. He might just be the finest decoration on the whole table.
