A Persian Cat Inspected the Pumpkin Carving Table Very Thoroughly
Pumpkin seeds, orange chunks and stringy bits of pulp cover the table, and a cream Persian cat is bent over them with great concentration. Her flat face is close to the wood, her round amber eyes are focused on a spoon and a pile of seeds and a half-carved pumpkin sits to one side. Behind her a kitchen counter holds a thermos, a towel and a basket of pumpkins, and a dark jacket hangs from a chair.
Plain pumpkin is generally safe for cats in small amounts, but carving time brings hazards. Knives and carving tools are sharp, and a curious paw could be cut. Raw pumpkin pulp and seeds may cause stomach upset if eaten in quantity, and seasoned or salted roasted seeds are not a good snack for pets. Clean the table quickly, keep tools out of reach and wipe up sticky bits. Persians are calm, gentle cats with long coats that need daily brushing, and their flat faces mean they can have breathing and eye issues, so talk to your vet about regular care. A damp cloth can help keep her face clean after exploring.
She sniffs, she considers and, to everyone's relief, she mostly sits and watches. The pumpkin will be a jack-o'-lantern by dark, and she will be the supervisor who approved it, with one slow blink of those amber eyes.
