A Chihuahua Puppy Became a Dinosaur, and the Sidewalk Went Quiet
On a quiet sidewalk, a tiny fawn Chihuahua puppy has become a dinosaur. The green costume has a spiky ridge down the back and a hood with little eyes on top, and the puppy's big dark eyes peer out from underneath it with serious determination. Behind the small roaring beast, orange mums sit in their pots, a miniature jack-o'-lantern glows on a step, and a flowerpot lies tipped over in the leaves.
Costumes can be fun for small dogs, but comfort should come first. A good costume lets the dog see, hear, breathe and move freely, with nothing tight around the neck or belly. Chihuahuas get chilly easily, so a snug outfit can be welcome on a cool October evening, though it should never make them overheat once they start moving. Let a puppy wear the costume for a few minutes at home first, add treats, and take it off if the dog seems stressed. Not every dog enjoys dressing up, and that is perfectly fine.
Chihuahuas are tiny but confident, and many form a close bond with one favorite person. They can be wary of strangers, so a busy Halloween night with doorbells and noisy kids may feel big for a small dog. A calm spot indoors with a cozy blanket is often the best seat in the house.
Still, there's no doubt about the attitude here. For a few minutes on the sidewalk, this puppy is the fiercest creature on the block, ten inches of pure prehistoric power.
