Samoyeds are known as the smiling dogs of the north, with a thick white double coat that kept their ancestors warm in cold climates. They also shed a great deal, so brushing is a regular routine, and a pumpkin outfit will probably end up with white fur all over it.

Samoyeds tend to be friendly, social and talkative, and they often want to be part of every family activity. Puppies need plenty of play and gentle training, and they do not like being left alone for long stretches. A Halloween doorstep is a good place to practice calm greetings, with the dog sitting politely as visitors come and go.

For now, this pumpkin with a fluffy face has found the perfect seat. It could easily be mistaken for a decoration, if decorations ever looked quite so pleased with themselves.
