A Calico Kitten Walked Straight Into the Cobweb Decorations
Wisps of stretchy white cobweb drape across the face and shoulders of a calico kitten, who stands very still in the middle of the floor with one ear half covered. The patches of white, orange and black on her coat make her look like a patchwork quilt wrapped in lace. A black plastic spider hangs from the web above her, and behind her sit a basket with a plaid blanket, a small pumpkin and a ghost decoration.
This is one of those cases where decorations can actually be hazardous for pets. Fake spider web is made of thin, stretchy fibers that can cling to fur, wrap around limbs and cause real trouble if swallowed. Keep it out of reach of kittens, or use it only in places they can't get to. If you see your cat chewing it, gently remove it and call your vet if you think she swallowed any.
Calico cats are almost always female, and their three-color coats make each one unique. Kittens of any color love to investigate new textures, and a web hanging down is nearly impossible for a playful young cat to ignore. Giving her a toy that looks like a spider, with no loose strings, can satisfy that urge more safely.
At the moment, she looks more puzzled than scared. A gentle untangling and a cuddle will likely fix everything.
