A Brown Tabby Kitten Moved Into the Freshly Carved Pumpkin

AI imagetabby kittenhalloweenjack-o'-lantern

Over the rim of a freshly carved jack-o'-lantern, a brown tabby kitten rests her front paws and stares out with big, round eyes. The pumpkin has jagged triangle eyes and a toothy grin, and bits of pumpkin pulp and seeds stick to the edge. A cluttered counter behind her holds a plant, a towel, a pile of papers and a jumble of carving tools, the signs of a busy night of Halloween preparations.

Kittens love boxes and containers, and a hollow pumpkin counts. It's snug, enclosed and just the right size to curl into. That's fine for a moment, but watch out for sharp edges from carving and for a pumpkin that might topple under the kitten's weight. Keep carving tools safely stored, and never put a real candle in a pumpkin where a cat might jump up.

Norwegian Forest Cats are large, long-haired cats with thick, water-resistant coats and a friendly, sturdy nature. They are known for climbing and exploring, and kittens often show this from an early age. Their dense coat needs regular grooming, especially during seasonal shedding. A cat tree is a great way to give a young forest cat a safe place to climb.

From her new pumpkin perch, this kitten has a good view of the kitchen. It's a jack-o'-lantern with a very fluffy tenant.
