A Calico Kitten Crept Up on the Foam Tombstones
Two curious amber eyes appear above the edge of a gray tombstone. A calico kitten has crept up to the yard decoration, with a patch of orange on one ear and a dab of black on her nose. The tombstones stand in a row on the grass, with a pumpkin and a planter near the front steps and a lit window in the distance. It's a graveyard scene, but the only thing creeping is a very small cat.
Cats are natural peekers, and they like to observe before they commit. Looking over an edge or through a gap lets them check things out from a position of safety. If your kitten does this, it's a sign she's cautious and curious, which is a healthy mix. Let her investigate at her own speed, and avoid picking her up or hurrying her.
Lightweight outdoor decorations can tip over, and chewing on foam can upset a kitten's stomach. Make sure decorations are anchored down and that kittens aren't left alone around them. If your cat spends time in a yard, a secure enclosure or a leash and harness keeps her safe from traffic and other animals.
Whatever she is plotting, it's quiet and calm. In a graveyard of foam, the cutest ghost is the one with whiskers. The foam may never be the same after a visit from a tiny, determined explorer.
