A Tortoiseshell Kitten in a Bee Costume Sat Among the Leaves
Dressed as a bumblebee, a tortoiseshell kitten sits among the leaves with her head turned to the side. The costume is yellow and black, with fuzzy stripes, tiny antennae and a pair of see-through wings, and her tortie coat looks like another kind of insect pattern altogether. Behind her, a porch with shoes, a bag, small pumpkins and a heap of crisp orange maple leaves makes a perfect backdrop.
Not every cat enjoys wearing clothes, so a costume should be a short experiment. Check that it doesn't restrict her movement, that her ears and eyes are clear and that nothing hangs low enough to snag. Let her sniff it first, give treats while she wears it and take it off if she shows signs of stress. Never leave a costumed cat unsupervised, and keep her indoors or on a harness outside.
A kitten's interest in leaves is natural, because they rustle, move in the wind and invite pouncing. Playing in a pile of leaves is a great use of energy, but check that no sharp sticks or debris are hiding in there. A quick brushing afterward removes burrs and leaves from her fur and gives you a chance to check her paws.
With those wings and that serious expression, this bee has important business. The flowers are all asleep for winter, but the buzz goes on.
