The Boxer Wore the Elf Hat All Morning, and Looked Sincere
Ears folded under a pointy green and red elf hat, a brindle Boxer gazes soulfully off to the side. A green felt collar with a little silver bell completes the outfit, and the dog's wrinkled brow and big brown eyes give the whole thing a gentle, slightly dignified air. Behind the elf, a lit Christmas tree glows by a sunny window, with wrapped gifts, a plate of cookies and a pile of blankets nearby.
Boxers are playful, loyal and famously goofy, and many keep a puppy-like spirit well into their adult years. They are strong, energetic dogs that need regular exercise and plenty of attention. Because they have short noses, they can overheat easily and may struggle in hot weather, so a cool winter day is usually more comfortable for them. If you want to try a costume on a Boxer, choose something light and make sure it does not press on the neck.
Jingle bells on a collar can be charming, but make sure they're firmly attached, because a dog could swallow a loose bell. Check collars and costume pieces regularly, and take them off during unsupervised time. Keep an eye on holiday decorations too, since tinsel, ribbon and glass ornaments are all tempting for a curious dog.
This elf looks like it has had a long day of holiday duty. A treat and a nap on the couch seem very well deserved.
