A Boxer Puppy Posted Himself Beside the Woodpile and Pumpkins
Beside a neat stack of firewood and a trio of fat pumpkins, a fluffy brindle Boxer puppy sits and looks off to the side. The black mask, wrinkled forehead and tiger-striped coat give him a wise, slightly serious expression, and the soft ears are still learning to stand up straight. A house with a green door and a blue bag sits in the background, with fallen leaves scattered across the pavement.
Firewood and pumpkins are classic signs of the holiday, but a pile of logs can hide a few hazards for a curious puppy. Wood stacks can topple, and bark and splinters can scratch a mouth. Insects and mold may also lurk in older wood. Keep a puppy from climbing or chewing on logs, and offer a proper chew toy instead.
Boxers are energetic, playful dogs that stay young at heart for years. They are known for being loyal and good with families, and they are often described as clownish because of their bouncy moves. Puppies need plenty of exercise, gentle training and socialization, and many Boxers love to be near their people all day. Short noses mean they can get hot quickly, so cool weather like this is perfect for them.
He sits like a small guard of the woodpile. The pumpkins are on his side, and the afternoon is calm.
