An Abyssinian Kitten Walked Straight Into the Halloween Spider Web
Thin strands of fake spider web stretch across her back and wrap around one front paw, and a tiny cinnamon Abyssinian kitten stares straight at the camera with huge amber eyes. Her ears are enormous, her coat has that warm ticked shimmer, and she is clearly not sure how she got into this mess. The living room behind her, with a couch, a small jack-o'-lantern, and scattered toys, is a very Halloween kind of chaos.
Abyssinians are known as playful, curious, and athletic cats, and kittens of the breed can be a whirlwind of energy. They love to climb, chase, and explore, so they often find their way into trouble, whether it is a pile of decorations or the top of a bookshelf. Lots of toys and climbing spaces help channel that energy.
Fake spider web is a classic Halloween decoration, but it can be dangerous for pets. The stretchy fibers can wrap around legs, necks, or toes, and if a kitten chews or swallows them, they can cause a serious blockage. It is safest to keep it well away from cats or to skip it entirely. If your kitten gets tangled, stay calm, gently untangle her, and call your vet if she has swallowed any of it.
At this moment, she is tangled but unbothered. With a face full of wonder, she looks like the star of a very small, very fluffy horror movie.
