The Tiny Black Kitten Was Caught With the Whole Bag of Candy
A tiny black Devon Rex kitten stands in the middle of the living room, holding a clear bag of colorful candy corn in her mouth like a proud little thief. Her huge ears flare out, her eyes are big and guilty, and the soft wrinkles of her fur look like crumpled velvet. Behind her, a coffee table with mail and a mug, a jack-o'-lantern, and a cozy sofa show she has not gone far.
This is a situation where a quick save matters. Candy is not safe for cats. Sugary treats can upset their stomachs, and the wrappers, plastic bags, and ribbons can be a choking or blockage risk. Chocolate and sweets containing the sweetener xylitol can be very harmful, so all Halloween candy should be stored well out of reach. If your pet swallows candy or wrappers, call your vet right away.
Devon Rex kittens are known for being clever, active, and mischievous. They love to climb, grab, and explore, and they often learn how to open cupboards and snatch things from tables. Keeping candy in a closed container and offering plenty of safe toys helps give that busy mind something to do.
As for our little bandit, she is holding her prize with a face that says she did not do anything wrong. The candy will have to be taken back, of course, but it is hard not to admire her determination.
