A Boston Terrier Took the Front Row Seat for Christmas Morning
The wrapping paper is flying, and a brindle and white Boston Terrier is keeping a careful eye on all of it. He sits in the foreground, ears perked and head turned slightly, as a woman and a little girl in a pink sweater tear into presents on the rug behind him. A decorated tree, a gray couch, and a few brown paper packages fill the cheerful scene, and torn tissue is scattered everywhere.
Boston Terriers are small, friendly dogs nicknamed the American Gentleman for their tuxedo-like markings and polite manners. They are lively, affectionate, and usually enjoy being close to their people, so Christmas morning in the middle of the family is a good fit. Their flat faces mean they can have trouble in heat or during hard exercise, so calm play is better than wild games.
On a day with so much excitement, pets can get overwhelmed. Piles of paper, ribbon, and small toys are easy for a dog to swallow, so it's a good idea to clean up as you go. Keep chocolate gifts, candy, and new batteries away from curious noses. If your dog seems anxious with all the noise, a quiet corner with a favorite blanket helps. This little dog is calm, though, and seems to enjoy being a front-row spectator for the morning's joy. Every so often his ears twitch at a new crinkle of paper, and he looks over at the family as if to say he approves of every present so far.
