Tiny Chihuahua Gets Lifted High to Meet the Star on the Tree
A pair of hands lifts a small chocolate-brown Chihuahua up toward the top of the tree, and the little dog gazes upward with his chin raised, ears drooping to the sides. A golden star glows at the tip of the tree, ornaments and lights sparkle on every branch, and boxes are stacked against the wall nearby. It's a sweet and serious moment for the smallest member of the family.
Chihuahuas are the smallest dog breed and often have a big personality. They tend to be loyal, alert, and attached to one person. Because they are tiny, they can get chilly easily and are fragile, so they should be lifted with both hands, supporting the chest and hind legs. Keep a warm blanket nearby, and never leave a small dog where he could fall.
Trees pose some hazards for tiny dogs, too. Glass ornaments can break, tinsel can be swallowed, and low lights can be chewed. A tree anchored firmly so it can't tip over protects everyone, and keeping the lower branches free of breakable decorations is a smart idea. As for this little dog, he seems to be studying the star with great interest. He's close enough to see it shine, and safely held, which is the best way to enjoy the tree. His little tail gives a tiny wag, and the star above reflects in his dark eyes. It's a small moment, but it clearly means the world to him.
