A Boston Terrier Puppy Put His Nose Right Into the Pumpkin Carving Mess
Nose-first, a black-and-white Boston Terrier puppy investigates a wooden table covered in pumpkin seeds and chunks of orange pumpkin. His little ears point sideways, his nose is nearly touching a piece of pumpkin, and his white paws rest by the edge. A porch, a doorway, and a spiderweb on the post give it all a Halloween feel. A wooden spoon and some stray pulp lie at his feet, and the sunlight makes the seeds glow like tiny pearls.
Boston Terriers are smart, social dogs with big personalities. They often follow their noses straight into trouble, and a little curiosity goes a long way. A puppy benefits from early training and consistent rules, and keeping him busy with puzzle toys or short games helps channel that energy.
A taste of plain pumpkin is usually safe for dogs, but a lot of seeds and stringy pulp can upset a small puppy's stomach. Seasoned seeds and carving scraps should be kept out of reach. Clean the table quickly after carving, and call your vet if you think he ate more than a nibble. A short sniff is harmless, but be sure that no carving tools or candles are left within reach of a curious nose.
He is only sniffing so far, and his careful investigation seems to be going very well. There is something endearing about a puppy who treats a kitchen table like an expedition site.
