Ziggy Fell Asleep on a Warm Blanket While It Snowed Outside
With his eyes closed and his whiskery chin resting on the blanket, the Miniature Schnauzer puppy has surrendered completely to sleep. His salt and pepper coat blends into the soft grey fabric, and his bushy eyebrows and beard look extra fluffy. A power cord curls beside him, and beyond the porch rail, soft snow drifts down through the golden light of a winter evening. Behind the blanket, the porch boards and brick foundation show a quiet, ordinary corner of home on a cold day.
Heated pet beds and blankets can be wonderful for small dogs in cold weather, but safety matters. Choose one made for pets, keep the cord out of chewing range, and never leave a puppy unsupervised on a heating pad, since pups love to chew cords. Check that the surface is just gently warm, not hot, and always give him room to move off if he gets too warm.
Miniature Schnauzers are sturdy, alert terrier-type dogs with a lively, friendly personality. They are quick learners and often love to be part of a household's daily routine. Their wiry coats need regular grooming, and puppies enjoy a cozy spot where they can nap between bursts of play. Puppies sleep a lot, often eighteen hours or more, so letting him nap undisturbed is an important part of healthy growth.
We'll call him Ziggy. Outside, the snow keeps falling, and he couldn't care less, because the only weather he cares about is warm, soft, and just right.
