Comet Put On His Reindeer Sweater and Looked Ready to Fly
A fuzzy brindle Shih Tzu puppy sits in the middle of the room in a cream sweater with a stitched reindeer and a bright red nose on the front. His dark, round eyes look straight into the camera, and his shaggy topknot falls over his forehead. Behind him, a tree glows with warm lights and wooden ornaments, a plaid blanket drapes over a sofa, and a basket holds a rope chew on a worn rug.
Shih Tzu puppies are sweet, outgoing dogs with a long double coat and a flat face. Their hair keeps growing, so they need regular brushing and often a trim to stay comfortable. Because of their short muzzles, they can overheat easily, so a heavy sweater indoors is best for short periods only. Check that the sweater isn't tight around the neck or belly and that he can move freely.
Many puppies take a little time to accept clothes. Let him sniff the sweater first, then slip it on for a few seconds with a treat, and take it off when he's had enough. Watch for signs like scratching, freezing, or trying to back away, which tell you he's uncomfortable. Check his skin under the sweater for any redness. Ask your vet for advice if he seems irritated.
We'll call him Comet. He's wearing the reindeer sweater with a very serious expression, as if leading the sleigh is his real job.
