A French Bulldog Sat Among the Pumpkins Like He Was One of Them
Surrounded by a sea of big orange pumpkins, a fawn French Bulldog sits turned slightly to the side, with his large bat-like ears pointed up and his dark eyes watching something in the distance. A scatter of dry leaves covers the ground, and a porch with pots of orange mums waits behind. The light is soft, a golden fall glow settling over the pumpkins.
French Bulldogs are compact, affectionate and playful dogs, famous for their upright ears and flat faces. They are well-loved companions who tend to bond closely with their people and do not need a lot of exercise. Because of their short noses, Frenchies can have trouble with heat and heavy breathing, so they do best in moderate weather with plenty of water and rest.
Pumpkin patches are fun for dogs, but they come with a few cautions. Keep him on a leash around uneven ground, and watch for sharp stems and rotting pumpkins that might tempt a nibble. Fall days can still be warm, so offer water and shade. Plain pumpkin in small amounts is often fine as a treat, but check with your vet if you are unsure about your dog's diet.
This Frenchie sits quietly among the pumpkins like the most dignified one in the patch. If any of them were to speak, it would likely be him.
