A Snow-White Kitten Meets a Snowman With a Bright Red Scarf

AI imagewhite kittensnowmanchristmas

Snow covers the lawn, and a small white kitten sits in it with her pink-lined ears perked and her blue eyes aimed at the snowman. He is a cheerful fellow with a carrot nose, dark button eyes and a bright red scarf, and he seems to stare back at the kitten. In the background, a wreath hangs on the brown front door and snow sits on the shrubs by the house.

A white kitten against white snow is a lovely picture, but it is also a reminder that tiny cats have little protection from the cold. Kittens cannot regulate their body temperature as well as adults, so winter outings should be very short and supervised. If a cat has been outside in the snow, drying her paws with a towel afterward helps, since salt or ice melt on sidewalks can irritate paws.

White cats with blue eyes can sometimes be born with hearing differences, but that is not true of every one, and a vet can check hearing if you are curious. Sunscreen is not usually a concern in winter, though white-eared cats can be sensitive to strong sun in summer, so it is an item for a vet conversation.

We will call her Snowball, and she is studying the snowman with a very polite curiosity. He has not moved or said a word, which she finds suspicious. Everybody knows snow friends are the quiet type, and this friendship is off to a thoughtful start.
