A Ragdoll Sat Among the Presents Like She Was One of Them

AI imageragdollchristmas presentsunder the tree

Among the stacks of brown-paper presents tied with twine and tiny sprigs of greenery, a seal point Ragdoll sits very upright, as though she were one of the gifts and had simply forgotten to wrap herself. Her dark mask and ears frame two deep blue eyes, and her long cream coat spreads softly around her. Behind her the Christmas tree glows with gold ornaments, while a throw blanket slumps over a chair and wrapping odds and ends sit on the floor.

Ragdolls are large, gentle cats famous for relaxing when they are picked up, which is how they got their name. They usually bond closely with their families and often follow people around the house. Under the tree, keep an eye out for hazards: curling ribbon, tinsel, and string can be dangerous if swallowed, and some gift items, such as chocolates or candles, should stay out of a cat's reach. A cat who likes to sit among presents may also knock them about, so it helps to place anything breakable up high until the gifts are opened.

For now, though, she is perfectly well behaved, sitting like a queen among her boxes. Perhaps she has already decided which present is hers. The twine, the greenery, and the soft light all agree that she belongs exactly where she sits. The tree lights make a gentle halo behind her.
