The Tree Lights Ended Up on the Floor, With a Puppy in the Middle
A glowing string of lights winds around a fluffy black-and-white puppy like a very festive scarf, and she sits in the middle of it with a calm, slightly worried expression. Her ears are long and silky, her chest is a white bib, and the tiny bulbs cast a warm halo on the carpet. In the background are a gray couch, a sunlit window with sheer curtains, and a toy or two scattered around.
Strings of lights are a real hazard for pets. Chewed cords can cause shocks or burns, and wires can wrap around legs or necks, so always unplug lights if you cannot watch the puppy, and keep cords tucked up out of reach or covered. Shih Tzus are small, affectionate, and playful dogs with a long double coat that tangles easily, so regular brushing helps. The breed is known for being friendly and happy to sit in a lap. If a puppy chews through a cord or seems hurt by one, call your vet right away.
This one looks more puzzled than frightened. She seems to be wondering how the lights ended up on her instead of on the tree. With a gentle hand to unwind her, she will be free in a minute, and the lights will go back where they belong, high and out of her paws.
