A Crooked Santa Hat and the Most Serious Face in the Living Room
The tiny Santa hat is slightly too big, tipping to one side over a very serious brown tabby face. This kitten sits on a woven rug in a cozy living room, in front of a brick fireplace with a pine and orange-slice garland draped across the mantel. Two stockings hang to the side, and a tree twinkles in the far corner. On the coffee table, a mug and a pair of reading glasses suggest that someone has just stepped away.
Tabby markings, those swirls and stripes, are not a breed but a coat pattern, and Norwegian Forest Cats often show them in rich, woodsy browns that suit a log-cabin mood. The breed is known for a thick, water-resistant coat and a friendly, laid-back personality. Dressing a kitten in a hat can be a fun photo idea, but most cats do not enjoy it for long. Make sure anything worn is light, loose, and removable, never covers the eyes or nose, and comes off if your cat looks stressed. Keep fireplace screens in place, too. A lit fire is a danger to curious kittens, so enjoy the glow only with the screen closed and the cat supervised.
Cats also love warm spots, which is why fireplaces and sunny rugs are such popular hangouts.
The hat is crooked, the look is solemn, and the result is a very small, very official holiday mascot.
