Game Night Ended Early. The Birman Has Claimed the Win.
Game night is officially over, and the winner appears to be the cat. This seal point Birman is sitting square in the middle of a wooden table that looks like a toy store exploded. Colorful wooden meeples, dice, little cardboard tokens, and star-shaped puzzle pieces are scattered in every direction. A mug of tea, a ball of yarn, and a pair of reading glasses sit at the edge of the table, abandoned. Those deep blue eyes stare straight ahead with the solemn look of a cat who knows exactly what happened.
Birmans are long-haired cats with color-pointed coats, striking blue eyes, and white paws often called gloves. They are generally described as gentle, social, and fond of quiet companionship rather than wild antics, which makes a scene like this all the funnier. Still, any cat will bat at small objects, and that is worth keeping in mind. Dice, game tokens, buttons, and similar pieces are small enough to swallow, and string or yarn can be especially risky if eaten. Packing board games away after playing and keeping yarn baskets covered helps prevent a fun evening from turning into an emergency vet visit.
Perhaps the cat simply felt left out of the game and decided to rewrite the rules. In this house, the new rule seems to be that whoever sits on the board wins. Hard to argue with a champion this fluffy.
