The Water Bowl Is Upside Down. The Fluffy White Culprit Is Perfectly Dry.

A stainless steel bowl lies on its side, and the water it once held has spread into a shining puddle across the floor. Right beside the spill sits a magnificent white Norwegian Forest Cat with a thick ruff around the neck and soft green eyes turned upward. The look is pure angel. Behind the cat, a basket of laundry, a pair of shoes, and a potted plant suggest a perfectly ordinary room that has just become slightly damp.

Norwegian Forest Cats are a large, sturdy breed with a dense, water-resistant double coat that evolved for cold northern winters. They are often described as friendly, calm, and good climbers. Some cats, including many of this breed, are fascinated by water and like to paw at it, dip their feet in, or tip bowls over. This may be partly instinct, since moving water tends to seem fresher, and partly just play. If your cat keeps knocking over the water dish, try a heavier, wide-based bowl, a non-slip mat, or a pet water fountain that keeps the water moving. Staying well hydrated matters for cats, so it is worth finding a setup they enjoy drinking from rather than splashing.

Nobody needs to mop a floor this early in the day, but here we are. On the bright side, the cat is still perfectly dry and perfectly fluffy, which seems to be all that really matters to him.
