The Bathroom Looks Like It Was Decorated for a Party Nobody Planned
Long ribbons of toilet paper hang from the shower curtain rod, drape across the sink, loop over the counter, and pile up on the tile floor. The bathroom looks like it was decorated for a party nobody planned. In the middle of it all sits a blue merle Border Collie, his speckled grey, black, and white coat fluffy and a little tousled, with one ear up and one ear folded. His brown eyes look up from under a furrowed brow, ears tilted back in a sheepish apology. A toothbrush and toothpaste sit by the faucet, and a basket of towels waits by the wall.
Border Collies are widely regarded as one of the most intelligent and driven herding breeds, and they need a lot of mental and physical work to be happy. Without a job, many will invent one. Bathrooms also hold hazards worth guarding. Human medications, including common pain relievers, can be very dangerous to dogs, so pill bottles belong in closed cabinets. Some human toothpastes and mouthwashes contain xylitol or other ingredients unsafe for pets, so dogs should only use toothpaste made for them. Keeping the toilet lid down, the trash can covered, and the door closed when nobody is around prevents many bathroom adventures.
This clever collie clearly found his own project for the afternoon. Perhaps an agility class or a few rounds of fetch would give him a job that is a little easier to clean up.
