Lunch Was Left on the Floor One Minute Too Long. The Snow Bengal Noticed.
Lunch was left unattended for exactly one minute too long. A pale snow Bengal crouches low on the tiled kitchen floor, its frosty coat marked with soft gray rosettes and stripes, while a half-eaten sandwich sits just behind it. Bits of lettuce and crumbs are scattered across the tiles, and a slice of tomato peeks out from between the bread. The cat's ears are swiveled back and its green-gold eyes look up and to the side with a sheepish, caught-out expression. In the background, wooden cabinets, a water bottle on the floor, and a crumpled towel complete the scene.
Bengals are known for their striking, wild-looking coats and their high energy. They are typically very intelligent, curious, and athletic, and many enjoy climbing, playing with water, and even learning tricks. Because they are so active, they do best with plenty of play, climbing spaces, and puzzle toys to keep their minds busy. A bored Bengal is likely to invent its own entertainment, which can include raiding plates. Human sandwiches may contain onion, garlic, heavy seasonings, or processed meats that are not good for cats, so it is best to keep meals out of reach.
This kitchen thief may not have planned the heist carefully, but it certainly committed to it. Next time, the sandwich goes on a higher shelf, and the Bengal gets a puzzle feeder of its own.
