Feathers Are Still Floating in the Air, So This Clearly Just Happened
Feathers are still drifting down through the air, which means this just happened. A white cat sits perched on top of a torn pillow on the living room rug, the fabric split open and stuffed with a cloud of soft white feathers spilling over the edges. More feathers float in the warm afternoon light, some caught midair, others settling on the floor and the nearby blanket. The cat's ears are slightly back and its face is turned sharply to the side, staring away from the scene with deliberate calm. A side table with a mug, a gray throw, and a potted plant by the window frame the moment.
Feather pillows can be especially tempting for cats, because a stray feather poking out moves and twitches just like a small bird. Once a cat starts tugging, the whole thing can come apart quickly. Feathers themselves are not usually toxic, but swallowing them or the pillow fabric is not ideal, so it is best to clean up promptly and keep an eye on your cat afterward. Feather wand toys, used during supervised play and then put away, are a great way to satisfy that same hunting instinct safely.
For a moment, though, it really does look like a snow globe someone gave a good shake. Our white cat blends right into the flurry, and it seems perfectly content to let the feathers fall where they may.
