The Chihuahua Hopped on the Clean Bed With Muddy Paws
A tiny fawn Chihuahua sits on a gray bedspread, and her huge dark eyes look straight up at the camera in a freeze-frame of surprise. All around her, muddy paw prints cover the blanket in trails and patches, from the pillow to the edge of the bed. A few scraps of paper and a box peek out from the floor at the side. She looks like a very small adventurer who has just returned from the yard.
Chihuahuas are tiny dogs with big attitudes, and they are fiercely loyal to their people. They are alert, clever and sometimes sensitive to cold, so they often love cozy beds and blankets. They also like to burrow, and a freshly made bed is just the right spot. After an outdoor walk, wiping her paws with a damp towel at the door keeps the mud off the furniture.
A washable blanket or throw on the bed makes cleanup easier, and a soft bed of her own nearby gives her a place to settle. Small dogs also need warmth, so a sweater on chilly days can help, and your vet can advise on care.
She does not look sorry at all, only surprised that anyone would notice. The pawprints are, in her eyes, just a signature on a job well done. Chihuahuas are also expert at finding the warmest spot, and the middle of a freshly made bed is often it.
