A Miniature Schnauzer Sits Very Seriously on the Muddy Bed
Across the whole comforter, small brown paw prints march in every direction, and in the center sits a neat black and silver Miniature Schnauzer with bushy eyebrows and a gray beard. The dog sits tall and still, ears folded, face serious, like a tiny professor waiting to hear charges. Out the window light pours in, and a pile of clothes and a cup stand on a nearby dresser.
Miniature Schnauzers are sturdy, alert terriers with a lively, bright nature and a protective streak. They love digging and exploring, and those wiry beards and legs pick up everything the yard has to offer. A quick wipe of the paws and a dry towel by the door can save the bedspread, and regular grooming helps keep the coat in good shape, since the wiry coat benefits from brushing and professional trimming. Teaching a simple "wait" at the door while paws get wiped is a good habit. If your dog's paws look sore or irritated after outdoor adventures, check with your vet.
The bed will need a wash, and the Schnauzer will need a stern, if gentle, talk. Until then, the little professor stays in position, brows furrowed, perfectly sure that paw prints are just a form of decoration. With luck the muddy marks will wash out easily, and the Schnauzer will remember the towel at the door next time, or at least pretend to.
