A Tiny Terrier Froze Mid-Crime Beside a Mile of Paper Towels

AI imageyorkshire terrierpaper towelscaught in the act

The Yorkshire Terrier stands very still, ears alert, eyes round as buttons. Behind and around her lies a long trail of paper towels, crumpled and scattered across the wooden floor, with the empty cardboard roll resting nearby. Clothes spill from a laundry bag in the background. She looks like she heard a footstep and froze mid-step, which she most likely did.

Yorkies may be small, but they carry a big terrier spirit. The breed was developed to chase small critters, so they tend to be bold, curious, and quick to turn any rolling, tearing object into a game. A paper roll that unspools as you pull it is almost irresistible to a dog like this. Keeping towels and tissue rolls up high, or offering a safe chew toy and a bit of daily play, can save a lot of cleanup. If a dog swallows a good amount of paper, it is worth a call to your vet.

We will call her Pepper. She has the blue and tan coat of a dog who takes herself very seriously, and the serious face to match. Right now she is calculating whether the best move is to stay perfectly still or to look as sweet as possible. Judging by the slightly raised chin, she has chosen the second option and is hoping it works.
