The Vase Fell, the Roses Scattered, and the Ragdoll Sat Right There
Pink roses and loose petals lie across the floor, and a white and blue ceramic vase has broken beside them in neat curved pieces. In the middle of it all sits a seal point Ragdoll, her dark mask framing wide blue eyes and her cream coat as soft as a cloud. She looks up with an innocent, gentle gaze, her paws tucked close together, her tail curling around the edge of the scene.
Ragdolls are calm, affectionate cats, and they are known for going limp and relaxed when held, which is how they got their name. Even calm cats can knock things off shelves, because batting objects is a natural investigation tool. A broken vase has sharp edges that can cut paws, so sweep carefully and keep pets out of the room until it is cleaned. Some flowers, like lilies, are very dangerous to cats, so check any bouquet before bringing it home, and call your vet if your cat nibbles a plant.
We will call her Rosie. She is sitting among the flowers as if she were part of the arrangement, looking soft and sorry and just a bit pleased with the decoration. It may take a while to clean up, but the scene has a certain beauty. The petals, at least, smell lovely, and nobody can look at that face and stay cross for very long.
