A Hairless Sphynx Left a Trail of Muddy Prints Across the Bed
The gray Sphynx sits in the middle of the bed with her ears pulled back and her wrinkled forehead creased. Muddy paw prints cover the white comforter in every direction, as though she had walked a loop around the bed and then walked it again. A bedside lamp glows behind her, and a tangle of clothes sits on the nightstand. Her large, golden-green eyes look directly into the camera.
Sphynx cats have no fur to keep their skin clean and warm, so they need regular baths to remove the natural oils that build up on their skin. They also love warm places, which makes a bed with a heated blanket irresistible. Muddy paws are a reminder that any cat that goes outside, even briefly, picks up dirt and possibly chemicals on her feet. A quick wipe with a damp cloth helps, and a vet can advise on bathing a hairless cat safely.
The prints are all very tidy, which suggests a methodical cat. She looks quite sorry, but she also seems comfortable, and it is clear she plans to stay on the bed. The laundry will have to be done tonight, but a warm, wrinkly face like that has a way of earning forgiveness. She has settled onto the comforter with such confidence that nobody has the heart to move her.
