A Spotted Cocker Spaniel Found Her Way Into the Chip Bag

AI imagecocker spanielpotato chipsliving room

Golden potato chips are scattered across the floor, and a black and white Cocker Spaniel named Patches is right in the middle of them, wearing a small, guilty smile. A torn chip bag lies open beside her, and chips poke out of it like tiny sails. Her ears are long and dark, her dotted coat is full of spots, and in the background, a pair of slippers and some papers sit on the floor.

Parti-color Cocker Spaniels have a white coat with patches of black, and they are cheerful, affectionate dogs that love to be involved in everything. Cockers have fantastic noses and a love of food, which means a crinkly bag on a low table gets noticed right away. Their silky ears also drag across the floor, picking up whatever is down there, so cleaning them is part of regular care.

Chips are salty and greasy, which is not a healthy snack for dogs. Some flavors also include onion or garlic powder, and too much salt can make a dog very thirsty or ill. If your dog eats most of a bag, call your vet, and keep fresh water available. Store snacks in a cupboard instead of on a low table.

Patches grins up at the camera, looking like she had a party for one. The crumbs may be everywhere, but her happy face makes it hard to stay annoyed.
