A Water Bowl Tipped Over and a Birman Walked Away From the Evidence
The water bowl lies on its side, a wide puddle spreads across the floor, and a seal point Birman sits at the edge of it, looking carefully elsewhere. Her silky cream coat, dark face, and white-gloved paws make her look very elegant, even surrounded by a splashy mess. Laundry spills from a basket in the background, a pair of slippers sits nearby, and her blue eyes stay turned to the side as if the flood has nothing to do with her.
Many cats like to play with water, tapping at it with a paw or tipping a bowl just to watch what happens. Some cats also prefer moving water, or dislike whiskers touching the sides of a deep bowl, so a wide, shallow dish can sometimes help. A heavy ceramic or non-tip bowl is a good choice for playful cats. Fresh water matters for health, so it is worth refilling the bowl daily and cleaning it often. Birmans are gentle, social cats with long silky coats, and they usually enjoy being near their people. If your cat suddenly drinks far more than usual, mention it to your vet.
She seems to have decided the best way to handle a flood is to ignore it completely. A towel and a mop will take care of the puddle, but her calm composure is another matter altogether. Elegance, it seems, survives even a spill.
