A Saint Bernard Stole a Sandwich and Is Wearing the Saddest Eyes
Stretched out on the kitchen tile, a red and white Saint Bernard rests his big head just above a half-eaten sandwich. His ears are pulled back, his droopy eyes look both sad and sorry, and a few onions sit in a bowl behind him. His fur is thick and fluffy, his white paws are the size of dinner plates, and the kitchen cabinets glow in the sunlight. It was a big dog and a small sandwich, and the sandwich lost.
Saint Bernards are gentle giants, famous for rescue work in the Alps. They are patient, calm, and very affectionate, and many love being close to their families. Because of their size, they can easily reach food left on counters or tables, and a sandwich is no match. Some sandwich ingredients, like onions, garlic, grapes, or certain sauces, can be harmful to dogs, so call your vet if he ate something questionable. Saint Bernards also drool, overheat easily, and need plenty of fresh water and cool spaces, so keep him comfortable.
He looks like a dog with a very big heart and a very big appetite. The sandwich is gone, the floor has a drool puddle or two, and his sorry eyes are working overtime. Forgiveness will come quickly, since he is far too lovable to stay in trouble. He will probably nap soon, still dreaming of ham and cheese.
