A Shih Tzu Smiled From the Empty Pizza Box Like It Was a Royal Bed
Resting his white paws on the edge of an empty pizza box, a black and white Shih Tzu peers out with a tiny smile on his face. His fur is silky, his dark eyes shine, and a few grease spots mark the cardboard beneath him. A couch, a blanket, and a pair of shoes sit behind him in a cozy room. The box is a perfect fit, and he has plainly decided it is his new bed.
Shih Tzus were bred as companions to royalty in ancient China, and they still love to be close to their people. They are small, friendly, and a bit stubborn, and they often enjoy curling up in cozy spaces. Pizza is not good for dogs, since toppings such as onion and garlic can be harmful and the salt and fat can upset the stomach, so call your vet if he ate some. Shih Tzus have short noses, so keep them cool, and they need regular brushing to keep their long coats from matting. A soft bed near the family is a good alternative to the box.
He seems very proud to be sitting in the leftovers, and his smile says it was worth it. The box will go to the recycling bin eventually, but for now, he is the happiest dog in the room. Nobody has the heart to move him.
