A White Cat Settled Into the Empty Pizza Box and Looked Away
An empty pizza box makes a perfectly square throne for a white cat with a pink nose and golden-blue eyes. She sits upright inside it, looking to one side with her chin lifted, and her snowy fur is a bright contrast to the brown cardboard. A basket of clothes and a pair of shoes sit beside the wall, and a few grease marks mark the box. She seems to be pretending that the box was always meant for her.
Cats love boxes of every shape. A box offers warmth, a feeling of safety, and a place to watch the room without being seen. A pizza box often smells interesting, too. Pizza itself is not good for cats, since toppings like onion and garlic are harmful and cheese, salt, and grease can upset the stomach, so call your vet if she ate some. White cats can sunburn easily on their ears and noses, so keep them out of strong sun. Offering her a clean box lined with a soft towel gives her the cozy feel without the leftover smell.
She looks calm, as if she is waiting for the next delivery. The box will go to the recycling bin soon, but for now it is the best seat in the house. She will accept all compliments, and no questions. Whoever ordered dinner has lost the box for good.
