The Kitchen Was Spotless Until This British Shorthair Arrived
Flour has settled on this British Shorthair like a light snowfall. It dots her whiskers, powders her round cheeks and drifts across the countertop behind her, where a metal pot sits tipped over beside a wooden spoon. Her amber eyes are wide and fixed straight ahead with an expression somewhere between innocence and a confession she is not ready to make.
The kitchen around her suggests a baking project that took a wild turn. Sticky utensils, towels and a sink full of dishes hint at a very busy morning. A cat's curiosity is hard to resist when a cloud of white powder puffs up from the counter, and the quickest way to investigate is to put a face right into it.
British Shorthairs are known as calm, easygoing cats with plush coats and a dignified manner. They tend to be affectionate without being clingy, which makes them popular in homes that want a cat with a steady temperament. Their dense fur holds on to messes, though, so a little brushing helps. Plain flour is not usually dangerous in a small lick, but if a cat swallows a lot or seems unwell, it is worth a call to the vet.
For her part, she has decided the best plan is to look extremely serious and hope everyone assumes the flour arrived by itself. It is a tough case to argue, but she is giving it everything she has.
