A Brown Tabby Gets Caught With a Mouthful of Spaghetti
Two long strands of spaghetti dangle from the corner of this brown tabby's mouth, and the plate it came from lies tipped on the floorboards with red sauce and noodles spread everywhere. His ears are pulled back, his green eyes are wide, and he is chewing with the careful stillness of a cat who knows he has been spotted. A pair of slippers and a few clothes lie in the background of the room.
Norwegian Forest Cats are big, sturdy animals with thick double coats, and they are known as good climbers and curious explorers. A plate left near the edge of a table is a perfectly reachable target for a cat like this. The dangling noodle is a classic move: cats grab food with their teeth and then have to decide what to do with something longer than expected.
A strand of plain pasta is usually not a worry, but pasta dinners often come with extras. Garlic and onion, common in tomato sauce, can be harmful to cats, and rich sauces may upset a tummy. It is best to keep people food out of reach and offer proper cat food instead. If a cat has eaten something like garlic or onion, call your vet for advice.
The look on his face says it all. He had a plan, he had a plate, and then the whole thing went sideways. He will finish the noodle, because nobody has told him he cannot, and then he will walk away like nothing happened.
