A Cocker Spaniel Gazes Up Over a Mess of Potting Soil
The buff Cocker Spaniel's eyes are huge and round, his long curly ears frame his face like a pair of golden curtains, and a trail of dark potting soil spreads behind him from a torn burlap bag. Beside the wall, a terracotta pot has tipped over and spilled a small plant across the patio.
The patio is gray and sunlit, with a wooden fence, a folding chair, and a stack of planters in the background. He wears a dark blue collar, and a few specks of soil dot his paws, as if he had walked through the scene with great care.
Cocker Spaniels are friendly, affectionate dogs who love to follow scents and explore. They have long ears that need regular cleaning, because dirt and moisture can build up. If he loves to dig through the garden, wiping his paws and checking his ears after playtime is a good habit. Potting soil, fertilizers, and some mulches can be harmful when swallowed, so store them in a closed container and call your vet if your dog has eaten any. Provide a safe place for digging, such as a sandpit, and plenty of walks to keep his nose busy.
The Spaniel looks as innocent as can be, with eyes that would melt any heart. The patio will need a sweep, but the dog has already earned forgiveness.
