A Corgi Marches Through the Snow With a Stolen Glove

AI imagecorgistolen glovesnow

Snow has fallen across the yard, and a tricolor Corgi is standing in the middle of it with a pale knitted glove hanging from his mouth. His brown eyes look up, his black and tan face is lined with frost, and the fingers of the glove hang down like a tiny hand waving hello.

Behind him a wooden porch, an old door, and a house with siding stand in the blue light of a winter afternoon. A trail of paw prints leads away from the steps, as if he took the glove for a walk. The snow squeaks when he moves, and flakes sparkle on the fur around his ears, making him look like a very small winter explorer.

Corgis were bred as herding dogs, and they like to carry things and keep track of their people. Snow is usually a lot of fun for them, though their short legs mean their belly gets wet quickly. After a winter walk, wipe his paws and belly to remove salt and ice, since road salt can irritate paws and upset a stomach if licked. A gloved hand is a favorite target, but a swallowed glove can cause blockages, so swap it for a toy and call your vet if he eats any. Dogs also need a warm place to dry off.

He has the proud walk of a dog who has found a treasure. The other glove is waiting patiently inside.
