A Silver Norwegian Forest Cat Sits on Top of a Fallen Bookshelf
Books are tumbling in every direction, and in the middle of the pile sits a fluffy silver Norwegian Forest Cat with huge green eyes. She perches on the tilted shelf like a queen on a throne, her tufted ears pointing up and her soft tail sweeping down over the covers of fallen paperbacks. Not a single paperback has escaped the avalanche, and a few lie open with their pages fanned out on the carpet.
A lamp with a woven shade glows behind her, a mug sits on a side table, a plant leans toward the light, and a gray sofa with a blanket sits in the corner. The room is warm and quiet, which makes the sudden collapse of the shelf all the more surprising.
Norwegian Forest Cats are strong, athletic climbers with thick, water-resistant coats and tufts of fur on their ears and paws. Cats love high places, so a bookshelf is an irresistible climbing tower. Unfortunately, a tall, loose shelf can tip, so it is a good idea to anchor bookshelves to the wall, and to provide a cat tree or a window perch as a safer choice. Check your cat for any bumps after a fall, and call your vet if she seems hurt. Brush her long coat several times a week to keep it free of tangles.
She seems to have no regrets and a great view. Her new library is just a little bit untidy.
