The Knitting Basket Was Right There. The Frenchie Got Wrapped Up.
A brindle French Bulldog sits in the middle of a mountain of cream-colored yarn, and the yarn has decided to join him. Strands loop over his shoulders and around his chest, and a wicker basket lies on its side with balls of cream and gray wool rolling across the floor. Knitting needles lie in the tangle, and in the background somebody's legs in gray pants and black slippers are just visible. His big dark eyes look sideways with a droopy, apologetic frown. We'll call him Noodle.
French Bulldogs are affectionate, playful and a little stubborn. Their short faces make them prone to overheating and breathing difficulties, so they do best with gentle exercise in cool weather and plenty of rest. They are also curious about anything that moves, and a rolling ball of yarn is a delightful toy. Yarn and string can be dangerous if swallowed, because they can cause serious blockages. If your dog eats string or yarn, call your vet right away. Keeping craft supplies in a closed basket or cabinet, and offering a sturdy rope toy instead, keeps the fun and removes the risk.
Noodle isn't sure how it happened. One moment he was rolling a ball, the next he was a very festive present. His expression is calm and a little worried, and the project is going to need some careful untangling.
