The Bed Was Made. Then a Tiny Terrier Walked Across It.
The white comforter has been stamped with muddy paw prints from one end to the other, and a tiny Yorkshire Terrier sits right in the middle of them. His steel-blue coat and tan face are a bit tousled, his ears are tipped back, and his dark eyes glance off to one side. Rumpled clothes and a lamp rest on the nightstand beyond the bed, and a sunny window lets in a soft glow. We'll call him Peanut, and he has put in a very busy afternoon.
Yorkshire Terriers are small dogs with big personalities, bold, lively and loyal to their people. They are descended from working terriers, so they love to dig, chase and explore, even if they only weigh a few pounds. A quick wipe of the paws with a damp towel after outdoor time keeps beds and floors cleaner, and a washable blanket on the bed saves a lot of laundry. Their long silky coats need regular brushing, and many owners keep them trimmed to stay manageable. If your dog is a puddle jumper, a basket of towels by the door becomes a very useful habit.
Peanut has taken a seat as if the whole bed were his new throne. His paws are brown, his expression is perfect, and the evidence is all around him. Washing day has just arrived, and he's the only one who doesn't seem worried.
