The Box Was Meant for a Pizza. The Great Dane Puppy Had Other Plans.
A fawn Great Dane puppy has squeezed into a big cardboard box that is much too small for her, and her wrinkled forehead and droopy ears make her look very sorry. Her long legs stretch out of the box, the edges of the cardboard are chewed ragged, and a few crumbs of paper lie by her paws. Golden light slants across the floor behind her, where plush toys and a couch wait. Her dark mask and big eyes are pointed up at you. We'll call her Pudge, and she's already outgrowing the box.
Great Dane puppies grow very fast, and they are gentle giants who love to be close to their people. They often act like lap dogs even when they weigh as much as a person. Because they grow so quickly, a vet's advice on diet, exercise and joint care is especially important, and puppies should avoid rough jumping or too much stair climbing. Chewing is normal for a teething puppy, so provide sturdy puppy-safe chew toys, and watch for swallowed pieces of cardboard. If you're concerned, call your vet. A box can be a fun den, as long as it's supervised.
Pudge looks sweetly guilty. She's not sure how the box got so small, and she isn't ready to get out. Her people will likely find a bigger bed soon, because this puppy has plans to keep growing.
